Spoiler: they saved the world.

STOPPOPALYPSE identity

AI is
thinking
too hard.

Design a single, genuinely fun workshop that played with the concept of AI — while embedding ARM's core values of working together to make the world a better place through technology.

It needed to feel exciting, ridiculous, high-stakes, and deeply human all at the same time.

Be
utterly
illogical.

A Rube Goldberg-style challenge with an AI twist. Teams were briefed by AI that they needed to outsmart it — since AI thinks logically, the only way to beat it was to be completely illogical: push a big red button to save the world using the most convoluted method imaginable.

The room was dressed as a giant brick-a-brac shop: Lego, art supplies, electronics, tools, craft materials. Teams also had prompt cards and a mysterious AI Shop — special items could be unlocked by writing well-crafted AI prompts, teaching participants the real value of prompt precision.

Each round brought a new twist: steal items from other teams, join forces, or — crucially — no talking at all. Every twist challenged a different dimension of teamwork.

It ended with a live test run. Every contraption fired simultaneously. The button was pushed.

The Twists

Round 1 Build your contraption. The brief is absurd. The materials are stranger. The goal is a big red button.
Twist A Teams can steal components from neighbouring groups. Chaos ensues. Alliances form.
Twist B No verbal communication allowed. Leadership without language. Creativity under constraint.
AI Shop Write a well-crafted prompt — unlock a special item. Bad prompts get nothing. Precision pays.
Finale All contraptions fire simultaneously. One live test run. The button is pushed. The world is saved.
THEY SAVED
THE WORLD.
By being as illogically brilliant as possible.
