Welcome to Gotharm City

Theatre for
1,000
engineers.

Create an immersive, gamified event for 1,000 ARM engineers that felt genuinely theatrical and memorable — not a PowerPoint with breakout rooms.

A world they could step inside. A story they were actually part of. An experience that would still be talked about at the next one.

ARM meets
Gotharm
City.

Gotharm City was born from ARM engineers themselves — at a previous event, teams were challenged to build a city out of Lego. One team named theirs "Gotharm", a pun on ARM. Scott took that seed and built a three-day world from it.

The ICC became Gotharm City. During the opening plenary, the host was interrupted by The Trickster — a devious, playful villain who unveiled his plan: citizens would have three days to complete his trials scattered across the venue. Each solved puzzle revealed a code for a padlock around a chained vault in the main foyer. Unlock them all before time ran out.

Every touchpoint kept the world alive — from event signage to stage design to physical props. The Gotharm Gazette, a daily in-world newspaper, escalated the story each morning with new dispatches, challenges, and a custom puzzle hidden inside.

The Gotharm Gazette

Every morning, citizens woke to a new edition of the Gotharm Gazette — a fully designed in-world newspaper with escalating dispatches, new challenges, and a custom puzzle hidden inside each issue.

Trickster Strikes at ARM's Annual Gathering
In an audacious move that has stunned the engineering world, a figure known only as The Trickster has commandeered the annual ARM conference and issued three days of trials. Citizens must complete hidden puzzles scattered across the venue before time expires — or the vault stays locked forever.
Vault Remains Sealed. Citizens Undeterred.
Sources close to the investigation report that several citizen teams have solved the first two combination locks. The Trickster was reportedly seen near the Scalextric arena, laughing. New puzzle discovered inside today's issue. Solve it — or don't. He'll laugh either way.

The Game Areas

Amaze Me
A virtual and real-life quiz maze. QR codes mapped to the venue floor plan — scan, answer, advance. Correct answers revealed a secret codeword.
Trick of the Eye
Visual puzzles — rebus challenges, an origami puzzle, and optical illusions. Reward different kinds of intelligence.
Mind Games
Riddles with multilayered challenges and maths puzzles. Solve the riddle, unlock the maths, find the code.
Criminal Codes
Logic-based games: mirror writing, Morse code, cryptography. One answer required engagement with a different part of the event entirely.
Electric Alley
An arcade of classic games — racing, pinball, Scalextric. A breather, but with hidden intel for those paying attention.
Build Gotharm
30kg of Lego, a timelapse, and three days. A collaborative, ever-evolving miniature of the city built by the citizens themselves.
Comic Strip
A comic-book photo booth — panel backdrop, props galore. Attendees created their own scene and took it home as a keepsake.
